Lunch Spotlight: Check out the Chef Salad and Southwest Chicken Salad! They are made with locally grown fresh greens from Greenswell Growers in Powhatan. The Southwest Chicken Salad includes black beans, roasted corn and jalapenos, avocado, diced tomatoes, and marinated chicken bites. As the local growing season begins, we will start getting cucumbers, tomatoes, and other fresh vegetables to serve each day. #TrayTuesday #VAFarm2School
Mark your calendars for the upcoming PECPS School Board meeting on Wednesday, March 6th at 5:30 pm in the school board conference room. You can either join us in person or watch the meeting online. Our Eagles are amazing, last month we recognized the Scholastic Bowl team for their remarkable season and the district spelling bee winners.
To promote daily attendance and address chronic absenteeism, students at the middle school participate in attendance wars. Recently, 5th-grade students were treated to a pizza party to celebrate winning the competition. #SchoolEveryDay #AttendanceMattersVA
The PECMS Boys Basketball team was recognized during the MS sports banquet. They had an amazing season that concluded with a second Southside Middle School Conference Basketball championship! Congratulations to the coaches, players, cheerleaders, and the amazing fans!

February is School Board Appreciation Month! Students from the elementary school made cards and drew pictures for each school board member. We value the multifaceted roles in which each member serves!
Students at the middle school will be included in the Young Writers USA creative publication entitled "Hunted." This publication showcases the creative talents of our Eagles. Students were selected from a nationwide search. Congratulations!

Prince Edward County Public Schools Supervisor of Food Service, Bruce Davis, along with his colleagues, participated in the annual School Nutrition Association of Virginia Lobby Day held in Richmond. During this event, the team engaged in discussions with state representatives to emphasize the importance of providing nutritious meals to children and to express support for HB 686 and SB 283. These bills, if passed, will enable school districts across Virginia to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students, irrespective of their household income. Currently, all Prince Edward County Public Schools provide free breakfast and lunch to students.

They have now qualified for the Semi-Finals, which will take place at John Marshall High School on Thursday, February 22nd, at 6:00 pm. Please note that tickets must be purchased online in advance.
