Prince Edward County Public Schools is excited to announce that its use of the Anatomage Table will be featured in an upcoming PBS podcast, set to air in December. The podcast, produced in collaboration with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), highlights how this state-of-the-art technology enhances instruction and elevates student engagement. Mrs. Kress, the Instructional Technology Innovation Specialist, was interviewed to discuss how the Anatomage Table has impacted learning in the classroom.
PBS Blue Ridge partners with the VDOE and the Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) to produce the ActiVAtED Learning podcast, which highlights educators from around the Commonwealth who use innovative tools and strategies to engage students in learning.
Students were given an assignment to demonstrate the use of the Anatomage Table with guidance from Mrs. Kress and Mrs. Harris, the Health Science teacher. Using the digital images on the table, students practiced checking the vitals of the virtual patient and identifying issues with organs in detail. As they explored, one student was able to rotate the virtual patient’s heart and learn more about the disease affecting it. The scanned images on the table are of donated cadavers.
Mrs. Garrett, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, commented, “The Anatomage Table is transforming how our students engage with complex health science concepts. This hands-on experience allows them to see, interact with, and understand human anatomy in a way that was never possible in a traditional classroom. It’s inspiring to watch them gain skills that will be invaluable in their future studies and careers.” We are thrilled to see our school recognized for the exceptional work taking place in our classrooms.
Prince Edward County Public Schools is committed to fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and academic excellence. We are an inclusive, student-centered community focused on inspiring confident, knowledgeable, and productive citizens who are empowered to lead.
