Prince Edward County Public Schools Supervisor of Food Service, Bruce Davis, along with his colleagues, participated in the annual School Nutrition Association of Virginia Lobby Day held in Richmond on January 30.
During this event, the team engaged in discussions with state representatives to emphasize the importance of providing nutritious meals to children and to express support for HB 686 and SB 283. These bills, if passed, will enable school districts across Virginia to offer free breakfast and lunch to all students, irrespective of their household income.
Currently, all Prince Edward County Public Schools provide free breakfast and lunch to students. The initiative encourages our Eagles to kickstart their day with a nutritious breakfast, followed by a delicious lunch often featuring locally sourced items. Recognizing the prevalence of food insecurity in the area, it is essential to provide additional resources to bridge the nutrition gap for Prince Edward County Public Schools.
