The Prince Edward County School Board announced today that it will begin the process of hiring a new superintendent by seeking public input on qualifications.

The school board has created a survey related to superintendent criteria, which is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PrinceEdwardSearch and on the home page of the division website. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at the school board administration offices and at each school. The deadline to complete the survey is November 7.

In addition to the survey, the board will hold five town hall meetings:

· Monday, October 28, 2024 at 6pm- Crawley Forum on Hampden Sydney College Campus

· Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 6pm- Rice Fire Department

· Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 6pm- Meherrin Fire Department

· Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10am- Prince Edward Middle School Cafeteria

· Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 6pm- Community Center on Sulfur Spring and Pinoak Road

"Our goal is to find a leader who will inspire our staff, support our students, and build strong partnerships with our community. We look forward to the important work ahead as we seek to provide the best educational opportunities for our students," stated Lucy Carson the Chairperson of the School Board. "We urge parents, staff, and residents to participate in the search process by completing the survey or attending the town hall meeting."

The school board selected the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) to assist the board with the superintendent search.
