At Prince Edward County Public Schools, English Language Learner (ELL) instruction is designed to support students whose primary language is not English in developing the language skills necessary for academic success and social integration within an English-speaking environment. Our EL teachers provide individualized instruction in the domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing to develop their English skills. EL students learn grade-level content integrated with language support in a supportive, collaborative environment. We recognize the diverse linguistic backgrounds of students and seek to empower them with the language proficiency needed to excel in their studies and engage in their communities as they prepare for higher education and career opportunities beyond their K-12 education.
