504 Plans

A 504 Plan is a blueprint for how a child with disabilities will have their specific needs addressed in the public school setting. Stemming from Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, this plan ensures that students with disabilities receive accommodations that provide them with equal access to the learning environment. Unlike an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) which is tailored for students who need specialized instruction, a 504 Plan focuses on providing supports and modifications within the general education classroom. The goal is to eliminate barriers and create an inclusive environment where every student, regardless of their disability, can learn and succeed.
